Cupid here…and I’m not drunk. Aren’t you lot happy? No? Bloody hell!!! I really can’t win with you guys. Well I don’t care…ok I do. I’ll take a swig or two next week without even having to be asked. *Looks at bottle and empty sippy cup… single tear falls…licks tear with toungue…mmm…salty*
Well I can’t drink all the time. I was given a special task this week. Again…post-it note…stuck to my bum this time. It read…

“Cupid, my favorite entertainer, Michael Jackson’s passing anniversary just occurred so this week I want you to do a post on him. We have an MJ inspired Loveless tattoo to go along with it, so say your piece on Michael in week one and interview the member with the tattoo in the next. Make it deep and tear jerking and don’t drink. -Editor”
With that type of pressure, I knew that it was serious. Then I thought, hell this should be easy, post the tattoo and some videos and there you have it, the King of Pop good people! But no, this was not the case. As I looked for the videos…I played them…and something magical happened. I was sliding across the room with a remote in my hand singing as me, Jeff and Psyche were partying across the room giving a full concert. The music was in us and erupted like a volcano. (I was Mike of course, Psyche, Janet…and Jeff was Tito…you knew Jeff was going to be Tito).
How can someone have such a hold on people. I mean bloody hell, my singing is shit and yet I could not be stopped. I too was a fan obviously, but as time goes, we start to just live with it and forget how huge of fans we really were. We forget how the music moved us, and how Michael became the King. He never claimed it…we just labeled him because it was too undeniable.
This loveless world always tries to focus on the negative with anyone before the positive and the negative comments soon seemed to overshadow one of the most uniquely entertaining people of your time.
If anyone of you are still judging, now is the perfect segway into the first video. *cue flashback transition*
Sometimes we take for granted the little things. Something so simple as not having a childhood….think about that. Even I was able to enjoy a beautiful one for a few centuries (hey, clearly us cherubs age well).
Let’s focus back on the good. Something that Mike was able to do better than anyone else was give his complete all for what he loved. And what he loved was his family and his god given talent that he was able to find at such an early age.
I’m sure he heard people say he wouldn’t be able to lead this band, and so on and so on. But he proved them wrong and put his all into every performance. He even had the uncanny ability to throw his emotion fully into his music and make you believe it, through his movements and voice, well before a kid his age usually even knows of these feelings.
Check out how great he did the same song once he was older…
Some people give it their all regardless of how mundane a task is. Just because they don’t think it would be worthwhile, they will not put their heart and soul into it.
But imagine if everything you did…you gave it everything you had. Then everything you touched would turn into gold.
Here in his song “Ben”, MJ gives a heartfelt melody of love and being there for a friend. What you wouldn’t know is that he was singing about…a rat. Expert level showmanship. We can all learn a lesson from that.
This logic of giving his all also went into those dancing shoes of his. His love of James Brown clearly even exceeded his early teacher. That’s another thing, learning and surpassing. It’s how we evolve. We all have to learn from those before us and bring something new to the table (Can somebody please explain to a cherub how he is doing these moves?)
Speaking of James Brown, a true master knows when to proudly pass the torch. Here is a little vid I found showing such an occasion (my good friend Prince also joins the fun. I have a basketball game with that fellow in a few days actually…)
To be remarkable throughout life is something astonishing. Michael is an inspiration for that. Look at yourself and know that you too…have accomplished much and the funny part is you are just getting better.
There is something you do better than anyone on earth. Remember to do whatever the fuck it takes to cultivate it. While Michael’s was documented, you get to nurture yours and reveal it when you are ready. Never allow yourself to stop growing and chasing what you love. And even when you think you are at your best, remember that you can get even better.
Mike showed us that countless times. Like in the Motown 25th anniversary…
There is just so much to be said about this man, but his legacy will live on forever, and that is not an easy feat to obtain. Many of you reading this will too become legendary. Sometimes it can sound funny, but the fact is that it is true. Some of us are destined to have our name never forgotten. Just know that just about every legendary person achieved that high honor because they were doing something they loved. When you love it, you would do it for free… (like how deep I just got there, right?). Learn from Mike, and do what he did…and inspire.
Well I think that is enough for today. Clearly there are a million other videos I can show, but for the purpose of filling that sippy cup over there, I think I’ll give it a rest. I hope this gave people a smile today. Through tragedy, there is greatness. Hopefully Michael helped inspire as well as entertain.
Be sure to tune in next week to see the awesome new Society member who has done just that. He is a quite a cool and talented one actually, destined for fame.
Gonna leave you lot with as many videos as I can as I take a few sips.
R.I.P. Michael…the world loves you.
PS- Don’t feel bad if you ever fainted over Michael…Psyche did one time and I tease her to this day *sip*.
Couldn’t resist, lol
This pretty much sums it all up…
